Colin Kaepernick Does Not Love Football

I'm so sick and tired of ESPN advancing the agenda that the NFL is prejudice because Colin Kaepernick is not getting signed by any teams. I understand that better quarterbacks than Kaepernick are getting signed, that is true. And the NFL is a lot of things: Greedy? Yes. Unconcerned for player safety? Oh, yeah. Basically a do-anything-for-money league? Absolutely! But collectively racist for not signing Kaepernick due to his kneeling-at-the-National Anthem Controversy? I don't think so.

I contend that Colin Kaepernick does not love football.

Back in the year 2004, the Cleveland Browns released a shell-shocked quarterback named Tim Couch. Tim Couch was 27 years old and was beaten and battered for the expansion Browns. He was picked up by the Green Bay Packers and was quickly released by the Green Bay Packers. Couch filed an injury grievance with the league and never played a regular season game again. The unconfirmed rumor is that Tim Couch contacted every single team in the NFL to try to get re-signed and only got a few brief chances to challenge at third string. At the time I said "if Tim Couch loved playing football, he would try to play in the CFL, like Warren Moon, or in the Arena League, like Kurt Warner." Tim Couch wasn't looking for another opportunity to play football, he was looking for another NFL paycheck.

In the year 2016, the Cleveland Browns released a troubled young quarterback named Johnny Manziel. Johnny Football was plagued by off the field issues and was out of the league at the age of 24. This past year I said "if Johnny Manziel loved playing football, he would try to play in the CFL, like Warren Moon, or in the Arena League, like Kurt Warner." The CFL's Hamilton Tiger-Cats hold Manziel's rights, he has to decide if he loves football, or if he's just looking for another NFL paycheck.

Which circles us back around to Colin Kaepernick. 29 year old Colin Kaepernick OPTED OUT of his contract in 2017. Kaepernick is famous for his National Anthem protest by the casual fan, and his play leading up to Super Bowl XLVII to the hardcore fan. As ESPN continues pound the Kaepernick story* it is a very simple argument: (You already know what I have to say.)

"If Colin Kaepernick loved playing football, he would try to play in the CFL, like Warren Moon, or in the Arena League, like Kurt Warner." I contend Kaepernick is simply looking for another NFL paycheck.
