I Am A Bum

<sigh>

I saw this idiot a few weeks back on some right-wing news site and swore I wouldn't write about her/them/they/whatever.

But then I saw this meme of the same TikTok-er over at # TheHodgeTwins and I felt compelled to reply.

I, personally, am a failure. I built this crappy little free speech website, but it's not real, it's a collection of ideas, some good, some bad.

My Great-Grandfather built his own home by hand.

My Grandfather didn't build his own house, but he could have. For 50 years he grew hundreds of the most spectacular roses that you have ever seen. How do I know he could have built his own house?

My Uncle built his own house, barn, AND worked his own land. My Grandfather was the supervisor, he guided my Uncle's Hand. My Dad built his own barn and his own garage. Again, my Grandfather was the supervisor.

My Brother-in-Law, when he was in college, went to the junk yard and bought 3 cars, of the same make and model, that didn't run. He used the parts of the 3 to make one "supercar" that ran like a top.

Me? I watched a lot of cartoons, had a hack pirate radio station, then drifted through crappy jobs until I started this barely-read blog.

One of my favorite songs played on Radio Anarchy

But I couldn't physically build something as simple as a doghouse to save my life. I think mechanics are magicians and people who build houses are (mostly) the salt of the Earth.

What is my meandering point?

I live in Ohio and I watch White people building houses EVERY SINGLE DAY. I am not using hyperbole, I am not using exaggeration, I work in an upper-middle class suburb and see the Amish vanned in from the countryside and building $750,000 mansions.

Now I'm not particularly fond of the Amish myself. Why? They think electricity is the devil, that sounds an awful lot like a cult.

But, more importantly, they are very, very White.

Editor's Note: My Mom loves the Amish. We will not disparage them any further.

But even if I wanted to build a house, there aren't many vacant plots of land available. Vacant lots in the town where I work START at $80,000. Almost no young Americans have the resources to build a house from scratch AFTER they've plopped down 80k just to start the process.

In theory, it should be EASIER to build a house today than it was a hundred years ago. You ever hear of YouTube?

If you're a hipster, you can actually go to Amazon and buy a house for under $10,000. Hypothetically that should help with entry level housing.... right?

But if you go to the comments section of the Amazon Video, the number 1 reply is "price doesn't include land." Yeah, I just said that.

When older, Rich Americans say they're going to build a house, they mean they are going to pay someone to build a house for them according to their specifications....

At some point though, I had to take a deep breath. Why do I care so much about what an ignorant Leftist has to say?

We are a free speech website here and it is hard to defend someone who is blatantly lying. She is lying and knows she is lying, she's as bad as Alex Jones and his Sandy Hook Take.

I mean, we are pretty open-minded at B.O.S., we just wrote an article 2 days ago (kind of) defending Marilyn Manson.

But the real reason I'm in such a lather is because the meme's subtext is that we need immigrants or else nothing will work in this country. If you're for immigration, that's fine, if you're against immigration, that's fine too. But don't disparage a specific race of people to make your point.

I irrationally felt that the Leftist was personally insulting my dead, White, Grandfathers.

The least I can do is defend them on my crummy blog.

Which I built.
