In Defense of... NoBunny?????
In the last week, I have read about sexual misconduct charges in varying degrees about these bands:
Of all the artists above, I had only heard of NoBunny. NoBunny simply quit the music business.
I don't want to delve into each case, take sides, examine the evidence. What I want to say is that if you look closely, from the very origins of the genre, with Jerry Lee Lewis......
......and Elvis Presley, sexual misconduct has plagued Rock and Roll. Don't take my word for it.
Google it. Pick a Rock Star. Type in his name and sexual misconduct.
Favorite Rock stars from every generation.
1960's? Pick your favorite.
The 70's? It doesn't matter, do a little research.
The 80's? Things never change. There's a reason there's an expression called "sex, drugs, and Rock & Roll."
It doesn't matter if the artist was beloved....
....or was perceived to be a scoundrel.
I'm not saying whether the cases above were serious or marginal, criminal or misunderstandings, or if there were long, convoluted back stories. All I'm saying is that if you are shocked by Rock & Rollers behaving badly sexually, you haven't been paying attention.
You haven't been paying attention for 70 or so years.
In specifically NoBunny's defense, he is very, very sorry.
You want all artists banned who had sexual indiscretions?
You eliminated about 80% of Rock Music.
You eliminated about the same amount of Rap.
Punk Music was basically all junkies and deviants.
You get my point. Need I continue?
What about the problematic Michael Jackson?
What about the problematic R Kelly?
I hope you enjoy listening to Folk heroes Joan Baez and Bob Dylan on a loop for the rest of eternity, because that's about all the music that's going to be left....
