McDonald's is a Corporation, Not a Restaurant

I was trying to finish, like, 4 other different Beacon of Speech articles and none of them were getting done.
All I wanted was cheap, warm food, so I opted for the McDonald's at the end of my street. It was a minute ride and I was thinking of another article on the way there.
I decided on the $6 McDouble Meal even before I hit the drive thru speaker.
At the speaker, I say "no mobile app" even before they asked me the question.
I quickly blurted out:
$ 6 McDouble Meal
Sweat and Sour Sauce
Coke
Let's see, that's 9 total words.
Shot around to the first window and paid. I only added 3 more words:
Thanks
No Receipt
Pulled to the second window to get my Coke and the 12 oz cup was 3/4 full with no ice.
All of a sudden, I'm Michael Douglas in Falling Down:
I simply said "ice?"
The 16 year old kid, with his McDonald's hat on sideways, looked at me like he had the speech rehearsed. "Yeah, we're out of ice. But the drink machine has a small setting. The manager said 'just because we don't have ice, doesn't mean that the customer gets more pop.'"
I snatched the Coke and the bag out of the kids' hands and drove away.
When I got home, I cracked the laptop back open to finish writing. Average sandwich, soggy fries, and....no sweet and sour sauce? I sipped on my lukewarm, flat Coke and changed writing direction.
All of a sudden, I'm flashing back to the hundreds of other subpar experiences at McDonald's. But every sentence that was typed, was quickly deleted.
I'm not really mad at McDonald's, I am mad at myself.
Why am I so stupid?
