Rex Huppke's Partisan Gibberish

Writer's picture: Fred Fred

When Republicans are President, everything bad in the country is their fault.

When Democrats are President, America is complicated.

Today, the USA Today's Rex Huppke came out with this amazing take: Instead of playing the blame game, maybe Donald Trump should step up and spend his own money for disaster recovery and stop complaining about the fire response.

Uhhh, what?

Let me get this straight, according to Huppke:

  • The Democrat Mayor, who was in Africa at the time and cut the fire budget, doesn't deserve criticism.

  • The Democrat Governor, who was in charge of sharing California's Historic Water Surplus with the rest of the state, doesn't deserve criticism.

  • The Democrat Vice-President, who is a native Californian and has been monitoring the situation....by conference call, doesn't deserve criticism.

  • The Democrat President, who tried to hide his diminished capacity for handling national emergencies from the press, doesn't deserve criticism.

Nope, the Republican President-Elect, who doesn't assume office until next week, that guy is to blame. Apparently, according to Huppke, the fire response wouldn't be so bad, if Trump didn't run his mouth.

Back to the "Trump is mean" narrative.

With the exception of a few years in grad school, I have lived my whole life in Ohio. You know what I know about the L.A. Fires?

Back in 1982, the punk band The Dead Kennedys sang about rich Californian's moving out of LA and into the hills- where their expensive houses would then burn down in fire events.

Since 2001, the National Interagency Fire Center has been keeping a close tab on the fires in the state.

If there are major fires every year, was Governor Newsome's thought process "well, California is due for a break."

You think I've cast too big of a net? Here's the link for recent L.A. Fires.

Even the casual American who watches The Weather Channel knows about the Santa Ana winds.

According to the USA TODAY.

The Democrats are blameless in this fire response.

The Republican, who is pointing out valid criticisms, should use his own money to help the displaced?

That's quite an angle for a national writer to have.
