The Israeli-Gazan Conflict: Predicted Correctly by Zero Hedge

When the cease-fire was announced earlier this week between Israel and Hamas, I would say that the reaction in the American Media was fairly subdued. I saw a lot of outlets taking a run at Donald Trump because he thought he should have won the Nobel Peace Prize for ending the conflict, but the news cycle moved away from Israel pretty quickly.

I thought the media, who had been chirping for 2 years about a cease-fire, would be ecstatic. Then I was at a Libertarian message board and they said outlets like CNN, were muted about the war's end because their team just lost.

And I am paraphrasing here:

Since October 7, 2023

Hamas:

  • Launched a lot of missiles that didn't penetrate the Iron Dome.

  • Killed a bunch festival-goers.

  • Killed about 2,000 Israelis, about half in the military, half civilians.

  • Bounced a drone off of Netanyahu's House and broke a window.

Israel:

  • Bombed Gaza back into the Stone Age

  • Bombed Yemen

  • Bombed Iran

  • Bombed Qatar

  • Agreed to no 2-State Solution

  • Erased some Gazan towns from the map and decimated the tunnel system under Gaza.

  • Assassinated about half the leadership of Hamas and Hezbollah

  • Killed around 68,000 Palestinians

  • Got all of their hostages back.

Israel, after Hamas took the Festival Hostages, said they would fight until all the hostages were returned. All the hostages were returned and the fighting ended. It was that simple.

Black and White: Israel Won the War
Black and White: Israel Won the War

But 2 years ago, no one predicted Israel would win a very one-sided war. After October 7th, 2023, there were calls for negotiations and restraint.

Except for a short, obscure article at Zero Hedge:

Substacker Portfolio Armor was the guest author and he said....

Editor's Note: I didn't memorize the article, now it's behind a pay wall. So, again, paraphrasing.

Once you declare war, and Israel declared war on Hamas, you don't negotiate peace. You fight until your enemy loses their will to fight. You beat them down. Then you negotiate with the next set of leaders that will give you what you want. (A return of the hostages).

Portfolio Armor didn't make the statement as a Pro-Israeli author, but as a student of history.

Of the hundreds of articles written about the topic, I think Portfolio Armor's angle was the closest to what actually happened over the last 2 years.

What's his reward for being "right?"

Often the correct voice isn't the loudest or the most amplified, it's a voice off to the side that's simply paying attention instead of moving an over-arching agenda.
