In the NBA, NFL, and NHL, predicting an upcoming season is much harder, all those leagues have a salary cap
In the Premier League, they have Financial Fair Play rules, which are really just suggestions that everyone ignores. (Especially Manchester City.) But the secret as to who will win the next season is based on who spends the most.
<gasp>
With that being said, it is not an exact science.
In 2023-2024, we did a really nice job of predicting the future.
In 2024-2025, not so much.
In 2025-2026, we were spot on, best year ever. So good, we regretted not being gamblers.
What does 2026-2027 hold?
Manchester City
Arsenal
Newcastle
Chelsea
Manchester United
Liverpool
Aston Villa
Crystal Palace
Fulham
Tottenham
Brighton
Bournemouth
Brentford
Ipswich Town
Nottingham Forrest
Leeds
Sunderland
Hull City
Everton
Coventry City
Sunderland shocked the league and qualified for the Europa League this season. I love them.
I am saddened to predict that they will be fighting off relegation.
Five of the Big Six will be back in the Top 6, while Tottenham will gravitate back towards the middle.
I really wanted Tottenham to get relegated last year, not because I didn't like them, but to prove that money doesn't buy wins. But cash will buy them out of past mistakes. Tottenham fans will be ecstatic with mediocrity this year.
Addendum 1 Hour Later:
I forgot to make my bold prediction!
Bold Prediction:
50% chance Mauricio Pochettino will be coaching a Premier League Team by the end of the season.
50% chance Mauricio Pochettino will be coaching a club team in Spain, France, Italy, or Germany by the end of the season.
0% chance he'll be coaching the USMNT.
I wanted to beat ESPN again, but they didn't do a 1-20 prediction, just consensus picks.
Let's go head to head this year with SkyBet.
