Listen, I'm a grown-ass man, I shouldn't be watching so many cartoons--
But I'm ADDICTED, I watch 'em every day, and there are new episodes all summer long.
The Simpsons (Disney+):
Every month this summer, The Simpsons are dropping "streaming exclusive" episodes at Disney+. You think that's a bit gratuitous after 37 seasons? Next year The Simpsons Movie 2 comes out.
President Curtis (HBO Max):
For what it is, it's not too bad. What do I mean by that? Another spin-off from the Rick and Morty universe, President Curtis is an interesting side quest. The Rick and Morty Anime? That was awful. Vindicators 2? Good, but very short. Rick and Morty itself?
Well...
Rick and Morty (HBO Max):
Season 9 is a return to form as Dan Harmon is teasing a full-length Rick and Morty movie in the near future.
But for Harmon, the near future could be in the 2030's.
Breaking Bear (Tubi):
The spiritual step-child of Breaking Bad, the series, and an edgy [adult swim] cartoon, it may be the first good original content Tubi has ever produced. But beware kids, Breaking Bear, if it was a movie, would certainly garner a hard-R rating for sexual content, graphic violence, and drug use.
Futurama (Hulu):
Debuting over 27 years ago, Futurama's 14th season started this week. It was as fresh and crisp as when the series was in its prime.
Regular Show: Lost Tapes (HBO Max):
When Regular Show finished its run in 2017, the creators were very satisfied with their ending. Surprise, surprise, Regular Show is back this summer and is as good as ever. Instead of a sequel series though, it's part prequel/parallel time frame to the original.
Spongebob Squarepants (Nickelodeon):
New Spongebob episodes are dropping weekly, but I can't watch them. Why? Because I don't have Nickelodeon, only Paramount+. Those episodes should get to the streaming platform later this year....
Or in 2027.
Among Us (Paramount+):
An online multi-player game turned animated series, it's not a bad cartoon, just not sure how you would work in a potential Season 2.
Robot Chicken 25th Anniversary Special [adult swim]:
Not quite sure about the length, but the preview looks awesome. It is slated to come out in August, but, unfortunately, it appears to be a one-off.
King of the Hill (Hulu):
Not the biggest King of the Hill fan, but even though Luanne and Lucky aren't in the age-advanced reboot, I find Bobby considerably LESS annoying this time around. It may even be marginally better than the later seasons of the original.
Because I am an old man, it's off to bed.
What am I watching tonight? The classics, the golden age of Looney Tunes (1944-1964), almost all episodes available on Tubi:
Just a reminder, Warner Brothers closed their original animation studio over 60 years ago.
