Eve of Destruction
Dirty Hippie Barry McGuire released the anti-war song Eve of Destruction in 1965. It went straight to #1 on the charts.
Barry McGuire was the definition of a one-hit wonder and faded into obscurity very quickly. Despite releasing over 2 dozen albums, most of those copies remain unopened in McGuire's basement.
As ballots continue to be counted in the Biden v Trump race, the song that runs through my head isn't the original McGuire tune, but the cover by famed wrestler/politician/Navy Seal Jesse Ventura.
You know, the version with the heavy gunfire.
