Massie Got What He Deserved

Thomas Massie is a folk hero in Libertarian circles, but is the enemy of MAGA-Land. To sum it up in one sentence: Donald Trump is a Populist whose whims seem to change with the wind, while Thomas Massie is NOT a classic Conservative in the mold of Rush Limbaugh, he is a Libertarian.

As a Libertarian-leaning website, we love Thomas Massie, we don't even try to conceal that fact.

But yesterday, when Massie lost to Trump bootlicker Ed Gallrein, we were happy. Why were we happy that someone we respected lost? Because we want to see a fire burning in Massie's belly.

Massie should take a deep breath and go on a nice vacation. When his mind clears, he should announce that he's running for Congress on the Libertarian Ticket in Kentucky's 4th Congressional District this fall. Can Massie defeat Gallrein in a re-match? With Democrat Melissa Strange in the mix, it is a possibility that the incumbent could still win under another party's banner.

But even if he doesn't win, he's shooting a cannonball across the bow of the lead ship of the Republican Armada. No matter what happens, Trump is done with politics in 2028.

In the last decade, Libertarians such as Gary Johnson, Bill Weld, Rand Paul, and Justin Amash, have all tried to change the Republican Party from the INSIDE. Massie tried to change the Republican Party from the inside too, and ran into the screaming Trump buzzsaw.

Republicans use Libertarians as a helpful ally to win close elections, that's why Trump was at the Libertarian Convention in 2024. But when push comes to shove, Republicans only want their own brand of big government, Libertarians want smaller government. That is the clearest delineation between the R and the L.

That's why we started saying "don't trust Republicans," about a thousand articles ago. Getting tricked by Donald Trump in 2026? Then you haven't been paying attention at all over the past decade.

As for the title of the article? That's what Massie gets for believing Trump was a small government, non-war, Epstein-exposing President in the first place. I hope the sting of Trump's betrayal motivates him for revenge in 2 years.

Whether Massie runs as a Libertarian for Congress in the Fall is really immaterial, he now has name recognition. He needs to decide if he wants to change the Republican Party from the OUTSIDE. If he starts to poll at significant numbers as a Libertarian, he could become a long-shot 2028 horse riding the rail in the next presidential race. You think either of these two dopes could beat Massie in 2028?

I want a motivated, and hungry, Thomas Massie just hammering Trump for the next 2 years, fundamentally challenging Trump to elaborate on just what the Republican platform is from an angle that Trump cannot dictate.

Because right now, it appears that Republican Platform is simply random thoughts streaming under Trump's Red Hat.
