Last week I came across an article at the Daily Mail: Origin of AIDS Revealed.

According to the book, The Origin of AIDS by Jacques Pepin, HIV can be traced back to...
Wait for it....
The evils of European Colonialism....
In 1916.
You know what? I'm not even going to tell you the rest of the theory because it is garbage. Straight garbage. The author wants you to believe that HIV was first transmitted during the first World War, then silently burned through populations, undetected, until popping up in Haiti, in the 1960's, then finally becoming a global pandemic in the 1980's?
Giving science the benefit of the doubt, I can see HIV starting in Haiti in the 60's, I believe that there is a faint trail there. But to blame AIDS on colonialism, then spreading ever so slowly for nearly 50 years? That sounds like a Professor trying to change history.
I am going to go out on a limb and say that Beacon of Speech has debunked Pepin's work by saying that he just needed to justify spending his University's money on "research" trips to Africa. If he didn't come up with some hypothesis', how could he explain his spending habits?
