Republicans Only Care About the Rich - At Least They're Consistent

I have seen this meme floating around in different forms on Libertarian websites over the past few weeks.
It is one of the truest statements every made.
In 1980, and, of course, this is a gross oversimplification, this is what the two Major Political Parties cared about:
Republicans: The Rich
Democrats: The Working Man
In 2026, and, of course, this is a gross oversimplification, this is what the two Major Political Parties care about:
Republicans: The Rich
Democrats: LGBT Issues, Immigration, and Defunding the Police
I can state this unequivocally, neither party cares about the average American.
You want to defend Donald Trump? Literally, one month ago: "Trump was asked to what extent “Americans’ financial situations” were motivating him to make a deal with Iran.
“Not even a little bit,” Trump replied."
But in Donald Trump's defense, I never thought he cared about me, not even a little bit, he didn't trick me. If you take a magnifying glass, you'll notice a lot of the things he is doing today is reminiscent of loyal GOP'er George Bush Sr.
Are Democrats howling about the high prices for you and me though? No.
Locally, the Cleveland Clinic announced a 20 year ban on gender affirming care for minors yesterday. Did they do that based on any internal philosophies? No, they did it so they wouldn't lose federal funding. The left flocked to social media, warning Americans of the non-existent Trans Genocide.
On Bluesky, every single day, posts scroll down my feed:
ICE are murderers.
Abolish ICE.
ICE, and Donald Trump, are the new Nazis.
Now ICE has been around for 20 years, they are simply the current target of an extension of the Defund the Police movement. After the murder of George Floyd, the far-left had local police departments in their cross hairs. Once Trump became President, they shifted their focus to the national ICE entity, hoping for better results.
And ICE is intricately tied to the immigration issue. The left thinks that providing free stuff to immigrants guarantees them votes when those immigrants become citizens. I see stories about immigrants suffering every single day in the mainstream media.
Now as a free speech website, we don't want any voices silenced, but Democrats do not give a shit if I can't pay my monthly bills. They no longer take up for the working man.
But I want you to go back to Jimmy Carter's 1979 "Malaise Speech," does this sound like a Democrat in 2026? "What you see too often in Washington and elsewhere around the country is a system of government that seems incapable of action. You see a Congress twisted and pulled in every direction by hundreds of well-financed and powerful special interests. You see every extreme position defended to the last vote, almost to the last breath by one unyielding group or another. You often see a balanced and a fair approach that demands sacrifice, a little sacrifice from everyone, abandoned like an orphan without support and without friends."
Liberal Jimmy Carter sounds like a downright moderate by today's standards. Extreme voices are overamplified everywhere in the Democratic Party, just like Carter warned.
You're saying Trump is more extreme than Reagan? In Trump's second term, he is nothing more than an orange elephant.
Back in 1984, the punk band the Dead Kennedys re-recorded their 1979 protest song California Uber Alles. Instead of taking aim at the Governor of California, they took aim at Republican President Ronald Reagan.
You can correct their lyrics for time, and the message would be eerily similar:
Welcome to 1984 (2026)
Are you ready for the Third World War?
You too will meet the secret police
They'll draft you and they'll jail your niece
You'll go quietly to boot camp
They'll shoot you dead, make you a man
Don't you worry, it's for a cause
Feeding global corporations' clause
Die on our brand new poison gas
El Salvador or Afghanistan (In either Cuba or Iran)
Making money for President Reagan (Trump)
Making money for President Reagan (Trump)
And all the friends of President Reagan (Trump)
Not quite pneumatically correct, but you get the gist....
