Earlier today, Oliver Tree died in a helicopter accident in Brazil.

Tree was barely on my musical radar, but my kids loved him. If you've never heard of Oliver Tree, that's probably because you're over the age of 30.

This was my favorite Oliver Tree video:

I knew Tree was popular with the younger generation, but he really was a YouTube Sensation.

468 Million Views: Life Goes On

384 Million Views: Miss You

64 Million Views: Let Me Down

63 Million Views: Hurt

60 Million Views: Miracle Man

53 Million Views: The Internet

51 Million Views: Alien Boy

To have 8 singles with 50 million views on YouTube is quite an accomplishment in the 20's. How many artists also have 7 different Gold, Silver, or Platinum (single) certifications in the last decade?

Tree was on a bit of the comeback trail seeing that he had left Atlantic Records and started his own label, Alien Boy Records. He had just dropped a single last month:

F*ck the Whole World

And to support f-ing the whole world: "On May 4, 2026, Tree announced "The World’s First World Tour" (also referred to as the "Love You Madly Hate You Badly" world tour), an ambitious venture scheduled to span all seven continents, encompassing over 70 shows across 30 countries throughout the remainder of the year."

Sadly, that tour ended in Brazil....

Final words go to frequent collaborator Little Big:

"Today, we lost our friend, Oliver Tree.

Oliver was one of the most talented people we have ever known.

In 2021, while working together on our collaborative EP, we spent an entire month side by side, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. What struck us most was that Oliver seemed incapable of standing still. Every second of every day was devoted to creating, imagining, writing, recording, building something new.

His creativity was endless. His energy was contagious. His mind never stopped.

It’s hard to believe that someone so full of life is gone.

We will miss you, Oliver.

We all will.

Rest in peace, our friend. 🖤"
