Wow! There's so much wrong with this picture, I had to verify it wasn't AI tricking me.
When I think of political bands, I think of the Dead Kennedys, Rage Against the Machine, or The Clash. I do NOT think of Guns 'N' Roses.
What do I think about when I hear about Guns 'N' Roses? A group of assh@les and drug addicts that caught lightning in a bottle and became the biggest band in Rock for 5 years. You want me to be more specific? Anything they have ever said hasn't ever been "relevent." Their glory days are over 3 decades in the rear view mirror.
Arguably the best song in the history of music about getting drunk on cheap liquor:
Arguably the best song in the history of music about how heroin f@cks you up:
The back story on Rocket Queen is insane:
Axl Rose and his band were the posterchildren for of Rock and Roll decadence. Axl Rose hasn't had an original thought for 30 years.
Their most political song? Probably 1988's One in a Million.
Those lyrics?
Immigrants and faggots, they make no sense to me
They come to our country, and think they'll do as they please
Like start some mini-Iran, or spread some f@cking disease
And they talk so many goddamn ways, it's all Greek to me
Uh, not quite Fight to Power by Public Enemy.
Literally the last person on the planet you should listen to about anything, except for on how to piss people off, is Axl Rose.
Now Axl can say anything he wants, he has free speech. But, Holy Cow, whatever that guy says to do, I would probably do the opposite.
You say Civil War was a great protest song?
No, it's not.
You say this whole article is an exercise in irrelevance, the war in the Middle East is over?
