Tell The World That You're Winning...

Back in 1984, Frankie Goes to Hollywood released their hit album Welcome to the Pleasuredome.

When the band arrived in America from England, controversy surrounded everything that FGTH touched. Their lead single "Relax" was banned in some corners for its sexually suggestive lyrics. Their follow up single "Two Tribes" had its video banned by the BBC. I watched Two Tribes for the first time in the 1 AM time slot on a video show called Rock N America.

I thought that the video was an amazing slice of social commentary, but it courted outrage in its negative depiction of Ronald Reagan as a mud wrestler.

To this day, I'm still not sure whether the red hot controversy stemmed from the actual video, or from the fact that the band was really, really, gay...

Over at the Daily Beast, they rolled out article after article this weekend attacking Donald Trump and Elon Musk.

Which, again, is the Daily's Beast's prerogative, we are a free speech site here. But it you look at the Musk/Trump photo in the center, it is nearly a carbon copy of the Reagan/Chernenko wrestling match.

Unflattering yes, but if you remember history, you'll know that Reagan won in a historic presidential landslide that year. The Two Tribes video barely dented his popularity. If anything, the controversy hurt FGTH more in America. (Not in Britain, they are still universally beloved there).

The longer the Left has no clear message for Middle America, the harder they will attack Donald Trump and Elon Musk.

Let's say there was a Democrat politician for president named Candidate X. Candidate X is tired of all the tomfoolery and inconsistencies under the Trump administration. Instead of attacking Trump, the Daily Beast promotes Candidate X at every turn:

  • Candidate X says he/she supports LGBT Rights, but no rainbow flags on any courthouses, only American Flags.

  • Candidate X says that consumer prices are too high, America has to integrate itself back into the world community.

  • Candidate X says he/she supports the middle class and will raise taxes on the rich and corporations.

If Left/Center Candidate X hits those 3 simple talking points, and beats them into the ground for the next 3 years, they will win. We are libertarians and do not agree with all 3 tenets, but the masses will lap that up.

That's not what's happening though. Every Democrat eyeing the 2028 election wants to show how far to the Left they lean. The Daily Beast gets caught up in a Liberal Doom Spiral and tries to attack Trump, but changes no minds, they simply preach to the Far-Left, Progressive Minority while promoting no winnable message within their writings.

There is a better chance of The Daily Beast not existing in 2028, than leading their candidate to victory.

Frankie Goes to Hollywood? They disappeared into oblivion, making just one brief appearance in the last 18 years:

The band had caught lightning in a bottle, but in-fighting caused a premature end to their efforts. They should have had long careers, but it's hard to stay on top in the pop game. Many had shot their shots, but alas, sometimes an enduring legacy is tough to hold onto.

We're done here.
