Back of the $1 Bill
Back of the $1 Bill

Since I was a kid, I've heard of conspiracy theories involving the Illuminati, how they're a super-secret club of rich world citizens conspiring against the working man.

But now that I've been working in the real world for a few decades now, I just don't believe in that many conspiracies. Most conspiracies can be explained away by the self-centered visions of the rich, not by any sort of global cabal.

I was staring at the back of a $1 bill (above) and thought to myself: Everything is a pyramid scheme, with the 1% on top. Just that simple. "The Illuminati" illusion makes the rich seem strategic and smart. A pyramid scheme implies that they're all a bunch of rudderless shysters.

But I've had that thought before, it's a recurring theme in my self published book back in 2011:

American Suicide by Fred Hunt (published 2011) is a 177-page fictional work described as a "downward spiral" exploring a single entity's struggle against overreaching corporations. Often described in the style of punk rock literature, it highlights themes of dehumanization and corporate control.

You see that paragraph in italics? That's from AI.

You ever stand along the shore of the ocean, ankle-deep in churning water? You don't move, but the sands shift beneath your feet?

That's how I feel about everything.

You would think that by my 1661th article, I would be on firmer ground. I don't feel like I'm changing, I feel like everything is changing around me.

What's my point?

Who's to say?
