Trump isn't the Enemy, Stephen Miller is the Enemy

Beacon of Speech, at its core, is a Libertarian leaning website. When the DOGE and Donald Trump cut funding to the Parks and Social Programs, Libertarians cheered. "You're half way there!!!"

My poor sister, who works for the Federal Government in the Parks Division, saw the DOGE come in, make her interview for her own job (online), slash and burn everything (figuratively), then leave. There was no rhyme nor reason to their cuts. There was no plan. They just ran around cutting things just to say that they were cutting things.

But, as awesome as my sister is, I am confident that her specific park could actually be run better. What the DOGE did was not responsible, but random.

And, as Donald Trump stood back and threatened to defund NATO, fundamentally, he was right again. America was paying way more than its fair share of the NATO budget. So, in theory, when European countries began paying more for their own defense....

Editor's Note: Germany was suspiciously quick to increase their military spending-

.....I just ASSUMED that military spending would be cut. I think Elon Musk thought the same thing. So when the "Big, Beautiful Bill" was unveiled, somehow, despite record budget deficits, government spending increased.

The press went wild, Trump and Musk were fighting! But the greater truth was that Musk and Libertarians were pissed that cuts weren't across the board. Behind the scenes, loyal Republican Operative Stephen Miller made sure spending went up for Republican and Conservative causes. That is business as usual for the dueling political parties.

Pasty-Faced Loser
Pasty-Faced Loser

But the day took a surprise turn when Stephen Miller started attacking Libertarians: Stephen Miller Wages War on GOP's Libertarians. From The Hill: "Going mainly after libertarian-leaning lawmakers such as Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) and Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.), who have brought up concerns about the megabill’s deficit impact, the White House deputy chief of staff — and chief architect of Trump’s immigration agenda — is taking a sledgehammer to what remains of the libertarian-conservative fusionism that was prominent in the party pre-Trump."

Then Stephen Miller went after 2024 Libertarian Candidate Chase Oliver:

What's Oliver's problem in California? The Federal Government's overreach. Fundamentally, one political party should be for a bigger Federal government and one should be for a smaller Federal government. Both parties now want bigger government, but run by their team. Donald Trump's brand of populism is simply bigger government for the Right team. (As opposed to the Left). One year there's a rainbow flag on the government building, the next year, the thin blue line flag. Government, buying and paying for, winners and losers in the Culture Wars.

DOGE's job was to cut spending, not to play the shell game.

Only fringe parties like the Libertarians are open to smaller government and reducing the deficit, that's why Miller attacks them and not the Democrats.

And that's dangerous.

Editor's Note II: Deep in my black, black heart, Massie and Rand got what they deserved. Both candidates believed they could change the Republican Party from the inside. That won't work. You 'sledgehammer' the Republicans, then replace them.

Libertarians are a notoriously surly lot.
