I kept seeing the number of immigrants in this wave as 60,000. Why is it important that the number of women and children is nearly non-existent?
Back in 2014, Europe was in a crisis. Over a million immigrants poured into the continent, mostly from war torn Syria.
Leaders across Europe couldn't agree on solutions, whereas countries in Eastern Europe mostly turned the immigrants away, countries such as France and Germany accepted the influx with open arms.
The tip-off that something was amiss was Vladimir Putin's Response. Though it could be argued that Russia was Syria's staunched ally, no Syrian refuges headed due North to Russia. Now granted they would have had to cut through Turkey, but Aleppo to Sochi was about the same trip distance as New York to Chicago. A much shorter trip than Syria to Paris.
In 2015, the death of Alan Kurdi was front page news for a week in America.
As the world fretted about the fate of the refugees, Glenn Beck at the TheBlaze screamed into his microphone "have you ever heard of the Muslim Brotherhood? This is not a refugee crisis, this is an invasion. Look at the pictures, there are no women and children. Instead of army men in fatigues, you have men of service age wearing shorts and t-shirts creating an infiltration. Almost, without fail, what you see is healthy young men."
And I thought to myself "Glenn Beck is getting mean in his old age." Then I looked at the pictures, dozens of them, and I thought to myself....
Hmmm. I see (almost) no women and children.

Meanwhile, while I was working on this article, NBC News was on in the background. They were parading out crying kids and Moms in Gaza. The one time I looked up, there was a 6 year old girl dragging a heavy water jug down the road.
Go back to the news sources highlighted above. If there was more than a few token kids in Ceuta, the Media would have found them and decried a humanitarian catastrophe in Spain.
But there were no children to exploit.
