Actually, The New Cleveland Sirens Will Be Easy To Ignore

Over at cleveland.com, one of their crack reporters touted:
The Cleveland Sirens "Will Be Absolutely Impossible to Ignore."
When I clicked the link, the article was behind a paywall....
And it was from August.
Hmm, so far very easy to ignore.
Googled WNBA Sirens tickets, they aren't on sale yet, but memberships are so you can buy tickets in the future.
I won't be doing that.
The Cleveland Rockers played downtown from 1997-2003, I never went to see a game, I never once tried to buy tickets.
City leaders claim that there's a "thirst" for the WNBA?
Nope.
I anticipate that the Sirens will be moderately successful because they are run by Cleveland Cavs Owner Dan Gilbert. Gilbert runs one of the most successful minor league hockey teams in America, the AHL's Cleveland Monsters. Have the Monsters won a bunch of Calder Cups? Uh, no, but Gilbert has used smoke and mirrors to make the Monsters one of the Top 5 teams in attendance in the AHL over the past decade.
But if you don't like minor league hockey, the Monsters are actually pretty easy to ignore.
Look for Gilbert to use the same business model for the Sirens.
Not everything Gilbert touches turns to gold, he owned the Cleveland Gladiators in the Arena League and, long story short, the league folded.
Why am I such a jerk?
Oh, that's a much longer story.
