On September 9, 2026, Mary Kay Cabot wrote another softball article filled with optimism for the Cleveland Browns: Can Deshaun Watson improve to 8-0 against the Jaguars in his first NFL start in 22 months? Mary Kay Cabot

I read the first paragraph and literally started screaming NO! No, he can't. The Cleveland Browns were 3-23-1 since they came back in 1999 on opening day.

So Mary Kay was optimistic, Fred at Beacon of Speech was pessimistic.

Final score?

Jacksonville Jaguars 34

Cleveland Browns 10

And it wasn't that close.

If Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers curb stomp the Browns next week, if anyone had any honor at all, they would all quit.

  • Mary Kay helped run Baker out of town, calling him "too immature to win." As a woman, she should have been embarrassed championing DeShaun Watson.

  • Owner Jimmy Haslam paid quarter of a billion dollars for DeShaun Watson, and all his luggage, because Baker couldn't lead the team deep in the playoffs. He should have been embarrassed by being a meddling owner.

  • Puppet GM Andrew Berry went along with the owner and made the Worst Trade in NFL History. When you look for your next job, good luck getting your fingerprints off of that.

What were cleveland.com's writers' predictions for the Browns this season? I don't know, they put it behind a pay wall.

Tried to circumvent the pay wall with AI. According to AI: Mary Kay Cabot's predicted win range for the Cleveland Browns in 2026 is 6 to 10 victories, with her projection heavily dependent on quarterback performance.

What???

AI better be wrong, that's a cop out prediction.

Our prediction: 4-13.

Man, I'm so angry right now, on so many levels.
