AI's Political Blind Spot

Last month, (before the cancer revelation), I wanted to make an AI Joe Biden Marionette. Our host's AI Image Program curiously blocked our attempts to lampoon Biden in multiple ways, despite having no issues making questionable images of Donald Trump. I was forced to use our backup AI program to get (kind of) what I wanted.

About a year and a half ago, Wix added AI Images and we loved it. We created images of:


Wix images didn't stop me from generating anything except for nudity..... But more importantly, I tried to generate the image: Biden Marionette. Surprisingly, that search violated my terms and conditions and the image wouldn't generate.


30 seconds later, I was generating Biden Marionette images over at the backup AI program.


For weeks that really bothered me, so today I returned to the backup AI Image Generator. Image after image mocking Trump, image after image mocking Biden. Now don't get me wrong, the backup AI program was more precise with Trump, but it didn't block any of my artistic attempts for either politician.


This one made me laugh out loud:



Then I returned to Wix. I tried a couple of searches and each one worked. Kind of.


I noticed image after image looked like Trump. Image after image DIDN'T look like Joe Biden. As a matter of fact, each image looked like a different, random senior citizen.


Then I decided to run a few by you, the reader:

I don't think there's any doubt who that looks like, even in heavy makeup.

That doesn't look like Biden at all. As a matter of fact, it doesn't even look like a senior citizen. Who DOES it look like? I don't even know, maybe Young Danny Elfman?


Trump Dementia



Again, that is clearly Donald Trump.


Joe Biden Dementia



I mean, who is that? Alan Cranston?


Your response is "Hey Fred Hunt, you're doing AI all wrong." Listen, that is possible, but right now the internet is just flooded with AI TRUMP TACO MEMES: There is no confusing the persona.



Now think back to the Biden Administration. Do you ever remember the internet being wall to wall Biden Blank Stare Memes? Or Biden Falling Memes? Or even Biden Walking Zombie Memes?

I mean, that's embarrassing right? Try it for yourself at home. Try and generate a Joe Biden AI Caricature. Good Luck to you!


Editor's Note: I was going to flood this article with insane images of Trump and Biden, but I'm afraid there may be an AI image cap for my site. (Again). You say this whole concept is in bad taste? We're going to address that.


Who's the face of the Democrat Party as of this second? I would argue that it is still Joe Biden. I believe many AI Programs have been overwritten to make users unable to satirize Biden. When a user types in Biden, the program could be altered to just read Male. Or White Man.


If AI is the collective mind, how does it not know who Joe Biden is? But more importantly, could those entitities that originally overrode the program simply override it again for the next "face" of the Democrats? Manipulating the AI parameters is manipulating the tenets of free speech.


Can I prove my theory? I can't.


Apparently I'm now Conspiracy Theory Guy.
