Americans Need to Suffer MORE

We are loathe to talk about our day jobs at Beacon of Speech, but I saw something so patently absurd that I felt compelled to give you a peak behind the curtain.
I work as an Administrator for the Avon School District. We are critically short of support staff, specifically bus drivers. Because I have my CDL, on some days I find myself driving a school bus.
Let me tell you about Avon. It is the wealthiest municipality in Lorain County, it is one of the Top 25 Richest Cities in the great State of Ohio. There are no crime problems in the city, except for a small sliver of land in the Northwest Corner where there is one housing complex that accepts Section 8 housing vouchers. Those residents are separated from the rest of Avon by a major highway and an industrial park.
I believe the housing complex was geographically stashed away from the rest of the residents by design, but I couldn't prove it in a court of law.
Anyways, I was driving a bus full of students down a wooded street, with a cul-de-sac at the end, admiring the perfectly manicured lawns, when I noticed a wire-free robot lawn mower. Don't see many of those in my run-down neighborhood a few miles south of Avon, not on any Richest Cities lists. One block to the West of the bus is a nice County Park, two blocks to the East of the bus is a nice City Park with soccer fields, softball diamonds, and an expensive suburban playground.
As I turned around in the cul-de-sac, in front of a $750,000 house, nestled between other half a million dollar houses, I noticed a small black flag on a landscaped lawn that read as such:
UNWILLING PARTICIPANT IN THIS DYSTOPIAN REGIME
I almost slammed on my brakes in disbelief. One of the cogs in my mechanical brain shook loose.
Do rich people even know what Dystopian means? From Webster's:
-a world or system characterized by human misery, oppression, environmental ruin, and a total lack of freedom
As a Libertarian-leaning website, this is why we have as much disdain for the far-Left as we do for Donald Trump and his little MAGA Cult. Most Americans whine about big government, yet continue to vote for their "brand" of big government. They are short-sighted because they don't realize that every time they vote to grow government, the type of government they don't like will re-take power in 4, 8, or 12 years.
The Republicans and Democrats continue to spend money to win the culture wars, no one is trying to shrink our "dystopian" government. No national politician is campaigning to put their party peers out of work.
What movie do you think of when you think of a Dystopian Future?
The protagonist of Fight Club, Tyler Durden, lived in an abandoned warehouse on the edge of town. As he gathered like-minded thinkers, bent on executing Project Mayhem...
... do you think he had a cute little flag in his front yard that read: UNWILLING PARTICIPANT IN THIS DYSTOPIAN REGIME
If Americans suffered more, they wouldn't hang novelty flags from the garden center in their front yard, they would be moved to action.
(And "No Kings" rallies don't count.)
That little slice of Section 8 housing I mentioned above? 100% capacity with a waiting list. Would I call that area dystopian? No, people flock there from low-performing districts like Elyria, Lorain, and Cleveland to escape their 2 star school districts to send their kids to a 5 star school district.
About a year ago, I took a phone call from a disgruntled Mom from the Section 8 complex that was displeased with her bussing. But she had a bigger picture concern she thought I could help her with.
"I used to live in Lorain and their schools are terrible. But now I'm here in Avon and the schools are much better, but the neighborhood isn't. I don't want to live around other poor people, are you aware of any nice Section 8 housing in the middle of the city, you know, where the parks are, nestled between the million dollar homes?"
"I'm sorry I can't help you with that," was my reply.
She continued. "You know what the government should do? There shouldn't be good people in the poor parts of town. If a person is a good person, the government should provide housing in the nice parts of town. And if the govenment can't do that, they should make the housing in the poor parts of town as nice as the housing in the rich parts."
Uh....
I bet you now want to write your own article.
