How Does That Sh!t Sandwich Taste, Rand Paul?

We do not like Rand Paul at Beacon of Speech, not at all. Why? Because his Father was a Pillar of Modern American Libertarianism, while Rand himself is part of the Republican Political Machine.
That's harsh?
Let's step into the way-back machine.
Back in 2016, 17 candidates ran for the Republican Nomination.
You really only had 4 Choices:
Donald Trump: Businessman, Populist, and Outsider
Rand Paul: "Libertarian"
Ben Carson: Doctor and Wild Card
13 other Candidates: Republicans
Rand Paul trotted out that he was a Libertarian, when convenient for his brand, but his angle was always that he was going to change the Republican Party from the inside. Guess who ACTUALLY changed the party from the inside?
You didn't have to be a math wiz to figure out that the Republican blue-bloods weren't going to win in 2016, they split the traditional GOP vote in 13 different directions. In the 2016 Republican primaries, Rand Paul received 66,788 votes and came in seventh.

A funny thing happened, though. At the beginning of the primaries, the other candidates tried to make Donald Trump sign a loyalty pledge because they were afraid that he was going to run third party.
But when Donald Trump won, ironically, many of those same candidates that signed the pledge wouldn't endorse him, Rand Paul being one of those candidates. As a matter of fact, a number of Republicans wouldn't endorse Donald Trump in 2016.
Even Libertarian Icon Ron Paul got into the act. Paul's 2016 Presidential Endorsement: 'Not Trump or Clinton or Johnson or Stein. “We will update this page if Ron Paul makes an endorsement.'” Now in Ron's defense, he was probably a bit chaffed that his kid washed out of the Republican primaries.
Not only would many Republicans not endorse Donald Trump, but they wouldn't endorse Libertarian Candidate Gary Johnson either.
Why is that important? Gary Johnson garnered 4,489,233 votes in the election to come in third, the best showing by a Libertarian in history. Rand Paul (and others) could have endorsed Johnson and really helped the Libertarian movement. Instead they chose not to weaken the Republican Party.
Fast forward 8 years and, shockingly, Donald Trump showed up to the Libertarian Convention and begged for votes.
From our article Props to Donald Trump: "We do not like Donald Trump here at Beacon of Speech, but I'll tell you what, you've got to give him credit. Last night, REPUBLICAN NOMINEE Donald Trump was heckled mercilessly at the LIBERTARIAN NATIONAL CONVENTION.
It takes a brass set of balls to walk into an arena where people openly hate you and give a speech.
As a Libertarian-leaning website, if we were at that convention, we would have been like the angry mob in a Bugs Bunny Cartoon, chucking rotten fruit at the stage. We, too, would have screamed and heckled Donald Trump. We would have accepted the challenge of trying to hit a moving target. As usual, places like CNN, the Huffington Post and ABC News all gleefully reported on Trump's travails at the Washington Hilton.
But Donald Trump going to that convention was....actually pretty smart."
Why? Because he siphoned enough Libertarian votes to easily beat Kamala Harris. Nominee Chase Oliver only received 635,551 votes and came in fifth. That's over a 3.5 million vote decline from 2016 and I could argue that most of the votes that came from Trump's 2.5 million vote victory came directly from the Libertarian-Type platforms Trump was promoting in the run up to the election.
Now that there's no more elections to be won, it's time for Trump to throw the Libertarians back overboard like useless ballast.
So it's 2025, and despite the Real Donald Trump's message on social media above being mostly untrue, it's a moot point.
Rand Paul forsook the Libertarians for a chance to change the Republican party from within, now he eats from the poo-poo platter.
Why all the scatological humor? From Kent Heckenlively in 2016: "(The author's) extensive investigation into Paul and his principles will illuminate how the Senator’s views on such concepts as individual rights, free markets, spontaneous order, and the proper balance between a government and its citizens will dramatically improve our country. This book is as much an examination of Paul’s life as it is of the libertarian principles that are already fundamentally transcending both conservative and liberal thought."
You don't think Rand Paul would like to have back the decisions he made in 2016?
Too late now, the Paul brand is irreparably damaged in both Libertarian and Republican circles.
Editor's Note: Massie in 2028 for the Libertarians? I'LL TAKE IT!
