This past weekend, we were supporting our local drive-in and watched the He-Man / Scary Movie 6 Double Feature:
He-Man Review: For what it was, it was good, I had the bar set low. The Prince Adam on Earth angle was original. The rest of the movie, sadly, was not. Grade C+.
Scary Movie 6 Review: For what it was, it was good. It made my laugh a few times and it had some nice call backs. Grade B-.
You should never walk out of a movie and say "well, that was fine." Again neither movie was bad, they were simply more or less what you expected them to be.
But as you saw luminaries from the Scary Movie Franchise keep popping in and out of Part 6, I thought of Simon Rex's* independent film that I watched 2 weeks ago.
Operation Taco Gary's was the most original movie I had seen since before Covid. I would tell you the plot, but I don't want to ruin anything for you.

Operation Taco Gary's Review: Only turned it on because I like Simon Rex. The movie was surprise after surprise, with the direction of the movie in doubt until the last few minutes. Grade A+
Produced by Rotten Science/Mosaic and distributed by Chroma, Operation Taco Gary's is the definition of a great little independent film. Take my word for it and go on over to Amazon and watch it.
You may not like it. But you absolutely can't say it was predictable.
*Yes, I know Rex was the star of Scary Movie parts III, IV, and V, the ones the Wayans Brothers DIDN'T produce.
