The Marquis de Sade died in a French Prison over 200 years ago. His crimes? A ravenous sexual appetite that crossed all civilized norms.
Sex with minors.
Sex with males and females, young and old, for money and for fun.
Sex beyond all acceptable religious teachings. Many sexual escapades were blasphemous in nature.
Sex, really, with anyone, willing or unwilling.
Many in French Culture considered the Marquis de Sade to be the devil incarnate. Others gave him the 'compliment' of simply being a Libertine: A person, usually a man, who behaves without moral principles or without a sense of responsibility, almost always in relationship to sex. Using the term libertine gives the connotation of liberty.
The Marquis de Sade was a Rock Star hundreds of years before the concept of the Rock Star.
So it was with great interest that I read that Rapper Diddy, born Sean Combs, was a bad, bad boy. You know how long rich and powerful men have been exploiting young and beautiful women? Sexual appetites that have reached across all societal boundaries?
Since the very beginning of civilized society itself.
You also notice that the Diddy Story has gotten progressively worse as more rich and powerful names have been associated with the entrepreneur? But here's the difference. If the Marquis de Sade was poor, the French Government would have shoved his ass under the guillotine almost immediately. Since he was a rich aristocrat, he wrote about his exploits both in and out of jail until his death at the ripe old age of 74. The Marquis de Sade claimed that sex was his "art."
Billionaire Diddy is being a bit more coy. He is lawyering up and only talking through press statements.
Bill Cosby? You know he's at his home thinking that he's the "victim" of a right-wing conspiracy. Do you know why Bill Cosby is laying on his couch right now and not rotting in a jail cell? Because he literally lawyered up to his eyeballs and got off on a technicality. Rock stars from Elvis to David Bowie to Anthony Kiedis to Marilyn Manson have all had very questionable sexual relationships, yet enjoyed lasting careers because they had piles and piles of money. Would the term libertine fit those individuals? Marilyn Manson would consider the term libertine a compliment.
Michael Jackson? Even though he's long since dead, accusers continue to chip away at his multi-billion dollar estate. Days Michael spent, in jail, in his lifetime, despite numerous, and very serious, allegations? Zero. How many monetary settlements did he make? Over 20.
You know how many rich artists have died in prison for their crimes? I can't think of one (in the modern era.) Even the horrible Gary Glitter may or may not make parole at his next hearing. But here's the difference, Gary Glitter was a has-been that was struggling to pay his bills. A one hit wonder that was irrelevant past 1975. Glitters' charges came long after he had faded from public view. Glitter didn't have a clothing line, his own music label, or a filmography.
What's my point?
Poor criminals die in prison every day. Rich criminals walk amongst us. That is the way of the Western World.
What was the inspiration for this article? Noam Chomsky's "friendship" with Jeffrey Epstein.
They weren't childhood friends.
They didn't teach at the same college.
What exactly was their friendship based off of?
Name one single overlapping aspect of their lives-
Editor's Note: Chomsky's Defense Lawyer objects. He is pounding his fists on the table yelling CONJECTURE!
Still not one of Epstein's friends have stepped forward and said "yeah, you got me." It is doubtful that Epstein sold teenage sex slaves to his poor friends, logic dictates they probably couldn't have afforded that.
Now in the year 2010, pillars of American Liberalism would have screamed WHITE PRIVILEGE as rich sexual deviants cheated the justice system, but last time I checked, Diddy wasn't white.
As Black Icons like Bill Cosby, Michael Jackson, and now Diddy, continue to buy their way out of trouble, you are seeing example after example of Rich Privilege.
The same privilege the Marquis de Sade used when screaming to be freed from the Bastille.
One of Beacon of Speech's favorite music articles was: Does Every Rapper Hate the Police?
But here's the ruse, my rap fandom is cursory. I am aware of great rappers, but I don't love rap.
When I started with the skeleton of my article, I wanted to use an existing Great Rappers list, not create one. I came across a few lists that seemed slanted, or incomplete, but the Top 100 Rappers of All Time list at Beats, Rhymes, and Lists seemed to be the most authentic and unbiased, so I used that as my reference guide.
Upon closer examination of the BR & L list, when I went back and used it as a reference point for THIS article, I noticed that Diddy wasn't on it at all. They were obviously aware of Diddy, they put Ma$e on the list.
Then I went back and cross-referenced some other Best Rapper Lists and noticed Diddy wasn't on those, either. A lot of Diddy praise came from people who were associated with Diddy.
Former Talk Show Host Wendy Williams has warned the masses of Diddy for almost 2 decades! Williams had her ear to 'the streets' and 'the streets' knew that Diddy was trouble.
Wendy Williams, if she was still a public figure today, would be out reminding you that she tried to tell you that Diddy was a criminal...and an overrated rapper.
Because the book 120 Days of Sodom was written over 200 years ago, I'm pretty sure the copyright is expired on that work:
Ultimately, when it comes to Diddy....
Addendum: As soon as I published this article, I posted it to Facebook.
The article was banned within 3 minutes.
As I re-read the article, what got it banned from Facebook?
Whew, not sure. Maybe the whole article itself?
