Nolan Good's Apocalyptic Nightmare

In 2024, Quarterback Nolan Good led the Avon (OH) Eagles to the Division II State Championship in Football over Cincinnati Anderson.

After that magical season, Good chose local MAC school Kent State as his NCAA Division I school of choice. Despite taking a few snaps in 2025, for all intensive purposes, the season was nothing more than a redshirt year for Good.

As a Redshirt Freshman this year, he was 2-4 passing with about 40 yards rushing in very limited duty.

At halftime today, with perennial doormat Kent State, ranked 127th in the nation (out of 138 teams), down 35-0, the Golden Flashes turned to Good to give them a spark off of the bench.

Good proceeded to go 0-1 in pass attempts and rushed for 5 yards before getting the Vaudeville Hook. Ohio State, the 2024 National Champions, continued to pile on, raking up a 59-3 victory.

Kent State ended up using 4 quarterbacks on the day,

Sometimes a game like today builds your character-

And sometimes a game like today kills your career..... before it even starts.

If you're an Ohio Kid, I can't think of a worse situation you can be placed under, football-wise, than what happened to Nolan Good earlier in the day. As a hometown favorite, hopefully he bounces back.

I'll be rooting for Kent State next year when they lose at Notre Dame by 70. Hopefully Good is still playing ball.

I am not overstating how catastrophic, mentally, that Scarlet Wave could be.

Side Note: Avon's 2025 Division II State Championship quarterback, Blake Elder, had some offers to play Division III college football, but was forced to retire at age 18 due to a heart condition.

Retiring as a teen is an even tougher break.
