What Do You Think the Devil Looks Like?
I just celebrated my 25th Wedding Anniversary with my beautiful wife, so I am VERY out of touch with what the kids are up to today. But......
Standing near the back of the Oktoberfest Crowd this past weekend, there was an old man wearing lederhosen, leading the festival-goers in chants of "Who Stole the Keeshka?"
Since I was the Designated Driver, I did not revel in the sing-a-long, I grew tired of it fairly quickly. As my eyes wandered to people-watching, I noticed a woman with this tattoo square in the middle of her back:
When I got home, I found out that the style is actually not that obscure if you look it up on the internet: Split Ladyhead Tattoo. But the point is, I assumed that the young lady felt like the Devil was inside her. For a fraction of a second, I was curious about her artistic vision.
But then she turned around. She was wearing a black corset top with 2 angry goats above her breasts. (One goat on each breast.) Not cute goats, mind you, but animals similar to the goats on Slipknot's Iowa cover.
Before I could process what I was seeing, I read the message in her cleavage in thick block letters: I AM THE DEVIL.
Hmm, she didn't look like the Devil, just an average brunette.
All of a sudden I had so many questions....
If someone told you "you're going to meet the devil today," would you be intrigued, or try to avoid the Dark Lord?
Would you assume that the Devil would be male or female?
Would you think that you'd see the Devil at Oktoberfest?
If she wasn't the Devil, why would she announce that she WAS the Devil?
For you divorced men out there: If you thought your ex-wife was the Devil, do you feel like she misrepresented herself by NOT having an I AM THE DEVIL tattoo?
As I was processing questions, my stomach felt queasy and I tugged at my wife, "c'mon, let's go. I want to go to the Lemonade Truck."
As I sipped on my refreshing Lemonade, I thought to myself "what if that WAS the real Devil?" Then I was creeped out.
A day later, I felt weirdly compelled to write about the Devil. Not the Devil herself (or himself), but what the reaction to the Devil would be.
