This is going to be one of our shortest articles ever.
Georgia college football coach Kirby Smart, a few months back, was proposing that the SEC breakaway from the NCAA.
His angle?: Wouldn't it be great if there were spectacular matchups like Georgia/Florida every single week?
Smart is a myopian, unable to see the forest through the trees.
From FoxNews "I’ve said this for a long time to our president, I’ve been a huge advocate that if we can’t find rules that everybody plays by, then we should play on our own," Smart said to reporters at SEC spring meetings in Florida this week. "I’m not afraid of that. I’m not afraid to break away and say that our conference is strong enough to go out and play."
At first, my take was that "someone has to lose." With teams like Georgia unable to schedule 3 cupcakes every year, and with the SEC only playing itself, that league will probably expand, then end up with a ton of 6-6 & 7-5 teams.
But then I saw one sportscaster DARE the SEC to breakaway. His caveat? The SEC can break from the NCAA, but they can't do it in football only, the have to take ALL sports with them.
Genius.

"During wide-ranging comments to open SEC media days, (Commissioner Greg) Sankey spent a large portion of his remarks discussing the bill, spearheaded by Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.), which aims to reshape college sports. The SEC does not support the bill in its current form, and Sankey confirmed there have been "real" conversations about whether the league should break away -- as Georgia president Jere Morehead suggested earlier this year."
Just f@cking do it already. Start your own SEC league. Go ahead, Georgia, pay football players... and players in these sports too.

College football coaches and league administrators are some of the most arrogant figures in all of sports. Quit your bluffing and play your hand...
And your new league will bleed money faster than anything since the XFL.

You don't want all those other crappy sports, you say? Then disassociate yourself from the university and just be a minor league football system. Rent those giant stadiums from the universities. The UFL is doing great with their business model....
