Do I Look Like a Libertarian Rat?

<sigh>

Since Donald Trump became a legitimate presidential candidate, statistically, in 2015, the definitions of a Democrat, Republican, and Libertarian all seemed to have changed.

In the interest of brevity, we are going to quickly sort that out, then answer the question in the title.

  • Donald Trump - I am banging my metaphorical fists on the metaphorical table, DONALD TRUMP IS A POPULIST. He is the very definition of a populist and has no moral core. (Unless moral core is defined as money.) He is a convenient ally to the Right because he loves to fight with the Left, even when they are in agreement.

  • Democrats - They used to be the party of the working man, that went out the window a generation ago. They are now the party of big government and implementing far-left ideologies at the taxpayer's expense, whether that taxpayer believes in those policies or not.

  • Republicans - They used to be the party of the Rich and limited government. Now they figured out they can be the party of big government and implementing right-wing ideologies. For a party that talks about money as much as they do, they sure do have a giant blind spot for the national debt and basic monetary systems.

  • Libertarians - They have always been about limited government. Always. Libertarians fight amongst themselves as to how limited that should look like. The most hardcore Libertarians are basically Anarchists waiting for society to collapse. In early Beacon of Speech articles, I described our philosophy as Libertarianism....with Bumpers.

With that being said, Beacon of Speech struggles to survive. Behind the curtains, our friends at Whatfinger continue to do a nice job of promoting our articles. But, one day, instead of going to Whatfinger, we submitted an article to the White House Wire.

Now the White House Wire doesn't have a submission page, it's just an aggregate with, mostly, stories from the White House itself. I thought President Trump would find one of the stories we did amusing, so I just emailed the government page with the link.

I expected nothing in return.

The White House Wire didn't pick up the article, but the president sent me a nice note of appreciation. (He obviously didn't check our back catalog.) Listen, I'm no rube, I know it was either a form letter, or an answer from an unpaid intern, but somehow, that action got me on a White House Mailing List.

So imagine our surprise when we opened up our email last week:

Screen Shot does the image no justice: In email, logos race across screen.
Screen Shot does the image no justice: In email, logos race across screen.

Now I don't know how to say this in a politically correct way-

If the Trump Administration was evil, I mean, Nazi-Level evil, aren't they being a bit lazy about it?

Asking the public for leads on biased stories? Just go to www.dailybeast.com and open the website. There, that took 3 seconds. Then, as a lark, I briefly toyed with the idea of sending my most negative article to the White House for self-promotion: This Greenland Nonsense has Got To Stop.

With my luck, though, I would probably give myself a heart attack when the FBI emailed me.

But, ultimately, my core tenets of libertarianism dictated that I tip the government off on NOTHING. They can go f@ck themselves. The White House Wire shouldn't exist. The government, at its very core, shouldn't be in the aggregate business.

And, to take it a step further, nothing I have ever read at Libertarian-leaning websites like Reason or Zero Hedge has ever been outside the bounds of free speech. They exist on the fringes on the media markets, but in my mind, that has to do more with limited cash flows (as opposed to almost unlimited cash flows at places like CNN or NBC.)

Editor's Note: Those unlimited cash flows are coming to an end.

Have I ever clicked on Whatfinger and found a story so bad or egregiously false that I felt I needed to contact the government? That has never happened.

Since I founded Beacon of Speech, the only media entity that has clearly breached the free speech threshold is Alex Jones.

But I am convinced that Alex Jones has been being used by the American Government for a quarter-century now. You say he's the most fiercely independent man in the nation? I don't believe that, not for one second.

With that being said, would I turn in an Alex Jones article to the government? No.

Re-read that title.

Terrible Option:

Jo Jorgensen?

You know what, I'm open to people I haven't even mentioned. Is someone in the mold of John McAfee available?

Uh, a McAfee-Type... without all the killing.
