Leading Cause of Death in America Today?

I don't want to dwell on this, but I need to point something out. On May 25, George Floyd was killed by the police in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Since then, over 11,000 people have died in America of coronavirus. Easy math, that was 11 days ago, meaning a 1,000 people a day have passed away since George Floyd died. (Just an aside, Floyd tested positive for coronavirus during his autopsy.) Looked up on the CDC website that on any given summer day, about 8,000 people die.

Break down the numbers a little further and they will reveal that deaths from coronavirus went from zero on February 1 to the third leading cause of death on June 5. Also according to the CDC, about 1,800 people a day die of Heart Disease and about 1,600 die of Cancer a day in America.

Now the fools at The Blaze are screaming "see, we didn't shut down America because of Cancer!" Uggh, I'm going to ignore them for now. My point is that the media tries to control what America worries about. Back when coronavirus was breaking, the media was all in on impeachment. When the coronavirus was killing those in New York and L.A., it was the lead story in the nation. Now that the coronavirus is tearing through the heartland, the media is focusing on police brutality.

That is fine, because the death of George Floyd was morally wrong and DOES need to be addressed. But behind the scenes, I hope that scientists are working to prevent the Second Wave of Covid-19. I hope the makers of Remdesivir are working triple time. And I hope Dr. Fauci continues to monitor the trends.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, when is the last time you had a summer flu? If there's a second wave, it will break in the fall.

What I DON'T want to hear is the representatives of the U.S. Government saying "who could've seen a second wave coming?"

It is the state and local government's jobs to run the country during "normal" times, it is the federal government's job to run the country in times of emergency. Forget about de-funding the police, if Donald Trump wants to play "state's rights" during national emergencies, you might as well defund the Federal Government and re-name the country The Alliance of American States.
