Tiger Woods' "Privacy" Scam

If I was a billionaire, I wouldn't drive anywhere.

Okay, okay, I would make runs to the local Dairy Queen or the corner CVS Pharmacy, but I wouldn't leave my hometown, I wouldn't even THINK of getting on the highway. It's not that I'm above driving, I don't have my nose in the air, it's just that if I had a billion dollars, I'd probably be really busy, I could simply create more time for myself if I had someone else drive.

And, if I had an appetite for drugs and alcohol, I DEFINATELY wouldn't drive anywhere, I'd be too afraid of getting in an accident and getting my brains sued out.

But I'm not Tiger Woods.

At the beginning of 2009, Tiger Woods was on top of the world. Sports Illustrated named him athlete of the decade and he was raking tens of millions of dollars a year in endorsement deals.

But by the end of the year, Tiger had gotten into his first major car accident. It was first reported that he just slid off the road. Later, it was speculated that he crashed shortly after his wife smashed out the back window of his vehicle.

And all his skeletons fell into public view.

Before that, Tiger Woods was universally beloved. Since then, he has been tabloid fodder. What's my beef with Woods? Every time there's a little flair up with him in the press, he steps to the microphone and repeats the same old tired mantra "please give me my privacy."

Then we rebut:

The themes of the above articles? Tiger only wants privacy when it's convenient. He wants to stay in the public eye to keep his revenue streams intact. He doesn't really want to disappear, he just doesn't want you to peak behind the curtain. The problem is that the rich want to "disappear," but they want to keep their million dollar homes in their rich neighborhoods, keep in contact with their rich friends, and keep up their appearances on social media.

But Tiger SHOULD be off everyone's radars. These are his golf statistics since the year 2020:

2020-2021: 3 Events / 2 Cuts Made / $64,000 Prize Money

2021-2022: 3 Events / 2 Cuts Made / $43,500 Prize Money

2022-2023: 3 Events / 2 Cuts Made / $59,560 Prize Money

2024: 5 Events / 1 Cut Made / $44,000 Prize Money

That means Tiger has made about $200,000 in prize money since Covid. That is apocalyptically low for a professional golfer.

If Tiger really wanted privacy, he wouldn't date the ex-wife of the President's Son.

Why the sharp tone? He's 50 now, a bit too old to pass off DUI's as youthful indiscretions. If he wanted the quiet life, he could join the Senior Tour and move to Kansas. There is a nice little niche in the sport of golf for its senior players. It is a scam that Woods is leaving the country to go to rehab. His argument? He's too famous to get proper medical care in America.

From ESPN: "Ongoing medical scrutiny and public exposure create significant barriers to his care and would result in setbacks and an inability to fully engage in treatment."

You argue that Tiger was supposed to obliterate Jack Nicklaus' record of 18 majors? He keeps having surgeries to get into his old form? The time to pass Jack was a decade ago. No more back surgeries or stints in rehab will put Tiger back together again. That record is out of reach. If he has to leave the country for the sake of privacy, he has enough money to disappear.

I bet you he doesn't.

Today, Tiger is just another out of control celebrity, like Shia LaBeouf or Britney Spears....

Who's not smart enough to hire a chauffeur.

Addendum, 15 minutes later:

I had it on the outline, but forgot to include it before I published-

The real reason Tiger doesn't like nannies, drivers, handlers, etc.?

He doesn't want his shit leaked to the Daily Mail.
